A Catholic University of Korea occurs as leading Roman Catholic institution of higher education in South Korea. It operates campuses in the capital, Seoul, and within neighboring Bucheon City. the university operates a school of medicine, & has eight connected hospitals around major cities of the vicinity.

History

A university traces its roots to St. Joseph's Seminary, founded prior to Christianity was legalized, around 1855 inside Baeron, a Catholic refuge in modern-contemporary Jecheon, North Chungcheong province. Fallowing a legitimation of Christianity, a school moved to Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in 1887, & was renamed Songsim Christian Seminary. a hospital associated by having the seminary was opened around 1936. A seminary turn into Songsim College inside 1947, and a school of medicine was established around 1954. A title was late changed to Catholic College. Songsim Women's College was founded around 1964; the two colleges were merged around 1990 to form the present-contemporary respire of Catholic University.
